Open Gardens-Stubbings

Open Gardens season has started in this area. It is a great opportunity to see gardens which only open to the public for a couple of days a year. We visited Stubbings in Berkshire. As you can see from the  photos it has some very large trees, there are a pair of 200 year old cedars.

Tag Tuesday-White on White

I am posting from a very wet and cold Berkshire, which is unfortunate weather for half term, and it was particularly bad on Bank Holiday Monday. However it is excellent weather for creative activity, and I am enjoying spending time in my studio.
My tag this week is stitched. I used a white canvas background and stitch layers of white lace and fabrics onto it. The centre piece is a crocheted rosette, covered in a layer of tulle for added texture.

More Wood Blocks

Another parcel has come through the door for me from Colouricious, containing these beautiful wooden printing blocks, which are hand carved in India. I liked this set, which are designed to use in embroidery.

I took some rubbings, which turned out well.

Tag Tuesday-Stripes and Spots

On Tag Tuesday this week our theme is Stripes and Spots.
. For my Spots and Stripes tag I have made a stripey fish tag. The background is tissue paper collage, the fish is painted with Twinkling H2Os and coloured with gel pens, and the seaweed is made from raffia.

Paisley wood blocks

These lovely wood blocks from Colouricious have just arrived for me in the post! I am looking forward to printing with them, and experimenting with making patterns.

I have not been blogging much recently, as I have been busy with the family, and also with the art class I am doing, which involves weekly homework! Making sure I get it done on time is keeping me on my toes!
